After an 18-month manhunt, Israeli occupation forces assassinated a Palestinian resistance fighter during a large-scale raid campaign across the occupied West Bank early Tuesday. The operations included widespread arrests, assaults on civilians, and incursions into multiple population centers.
Targeted Killing in Nablus
In Nablus, Israeli occupation forces confirmed the assassination of Abdul Raouf Ishtayeh, a wanted Palestinian fighter. Ishtayeh was accused of carrying out the car-ramming operation at the Awarta checkpoint near Nablus in May 2024, which resulted in the deaths of two occupation soldiers.
The assassination coincided with a pre-dawn Israeli occupation military incursion into the eastern sector of Nablus. The occupation forces stormed the area to secure access for buses carrying Israeli settlers to Joseph’s Tomb, a site whose visit Palestinians regard as a desecration.
During the incursion, occupation soldiers raided multiple buildings on Amman Street, forcibly evacuating residents from their homes and converting the area into a military outpost. A simultaneous raid was conducted on the New Askar refugee camp.
