The Israeli occupation army launched renewed artillery and air strikes early Monday targeting the eastern outskirts of Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza, beyond what is known as the “yellow line,” in a fresh breach of the ceasefire agreement.

According to Al-Jazeera’s correspondent, Israeli artillery fired heavily toward eastern Khan Younis, accompanied by machine-gun fire from military helicopters. Local media also reported that Israeli vehicles opened fire toward tents sheltering displaced families near the Austrian neighborhood west of the city.
In Rafah, Israeli occupation artillery shelled areas east of the city, which remains under Israeli military control. Meanwhile, an airstrike hit the eastern Tafah neighborhood in Gaza City, with no casualties reported so far.
Although the ceasefire formally took effect on October 10, the Israeli occupation army has continued daily attacks across the Strip after repositioning behind the “yellow line,” a zone that secures its hold over more than half of Gaza’s territory.

Khan Younis—devastated almost entirely during the war—continues to endure repeated assaults despite the agreement, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis marked by widespread destruction and collapsing services.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced Sunday that the death toll has risen to 70,103 since the start of Israel’s war of annihilation on October 7, 2023, with 170,985 wounded. Since the ceasefire came into effect, 356 additional Palestinians have been killed and 908 wounded, while 607 bodies have been recovered from the rubble.
