UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Saturday reiterated his calls for an end to the unlawful occupation of the Palestinian Territory and for irreversible progress towards the so-called “two-State solution.”
In remarks marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the UN chief said the Palestinian people have a right to dignity, justice and self-determination.
“Yet over the last two years, these rights have been violated beyond comprehension. Gaza lies in ruins, hunger, disease and trauma run rampant. The people in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, also endured unspeakable hardship amidst Israeli military operations, settler violence, settlement expansion, evictions, and demolitions,” Guterres stated.

In this context, the UN S.G. said he repeated his call “for an end to the unlawful occupation of the Palestinian Territory.”
On this International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People we reaffirm a simple truth:
The Palestinian people have a right to dignity, justice & self-determination.
Yet over the last 2 years, these rights have been violated beyond comprehension.
I repeat my call for…

“I also reiterate my call for irreversible progress towards a two-State solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security.”
